iCloud passwords crashing after startup

The iCloud app for windows has stopped working - at least the passwords part of it.

When I want to look up a password, it opens the passwords "app" - asks for my Windows PIN or fingerprint - loads for about 5 seconds and then crashes.

This issue has been present for a few months now. I think the issue started last fall.

It happens on all my Windows PCs.

The extension for chrome and edge is still working and filling in passwords.

Can anyone help?

I have approached both Microsoft and Apple support about this very issue. Each side says it’s the other’s issue, so I’m stuck in the middle with no solution.

I had to buy a Windows laptop last October for college purposes. At first the Windows version of the Passwords app worked flawlessly. Some time later, it suddenly stopped working. I’ve tried making exclusions in my antiviral apps, to no avail. What’s interesting is that there isn’t any Passwords.exe file to be found. I’m not technical enough to know how that can be. I also can’t find any references to Passwords app crashing in system logs.

It’s almost like Apple made Passwords for Windows a “ghost app.” I share your frustration with this unacceptable glitch.
