iMovie Save Current Frame is Darker

I wanted to post this change that happened to iMovie. I've seen another post as well of this complaint, where when you save a current frame of an iMovie video, to use as a still, it indeed becomes darker than what appears in the original video.

It remained the same between a still and the video a couple updates ago, as I use this tool often for my work.

This is annoying that this change has happened, as I take still frames from a video all the time and export it to add layovers to it in Keynote, and then reinsert it into the video. It worked seamlessly before when the still frame remained the same. Now it is darker and I find this extremely annoying....

Thanks

Hi,

As a workaround, try pausing your view screen at full screen at the frame you want to save. Then take a screen shot by press dragging a selected portion of the screen (Command-Shift-4).

Sometimes deleting preferences can fix things when iMovie behaves other than as expected. Open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new empty library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. (To reopen your old library close

iMovie and go to your Movie folder or wherever you have your old iMovie library stored. Double click on the library’s icon.  iMovie will open in that library.) Possibly you may need to reboot to set the changes.  Deleting preferences is a safe procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to your project.
