Why won't my AirPods 3rd generation light up white after reset?

I have AIRPODS 3 GEN headphones, they are not working properly and I want to reset them, but after the amber color it never lights up white again! They have never been updated! The version is still 3A283! I have tried everything you recommend!

Here’s a quick guide to reset your AirPods:

  1. Reset Process:
    • Put AirPods in the case, open the lid.
    • Hold the setup button for about 15 seconds until the light flashes amber, then white.
  1. Check Charge: Make sure your AirPods and case have enough charge.
  2. Update Firmware: If you get them working, check for updates by connecting to an iPhone.
  3. Try Another Device: Try pairing with another device to rule out device issues.

I hope this helps!

Alternatively you can always contact apple support.

Hello again Adriana!

It sounds like you’ve tried all the right steps but are still stuck with the amber light and no white flash. Since the usual reset process isn't working, here are a few things you can try:

  • Charge Everything Fully: Make sure both your AirPods and their case have plenty of charge. If either is too low, it can affect the reset process.
  • Force Restart the AirPods:
    • With your AirPods in the case, close the lid and wait for about 30 seconds.
    • Open the lid, then press and hold the setup button for 15 seconds again.
    • If it still doesn’t go to white, try holding the button a bit longer (up to 30 seconds).
  • Check for Obstructions or Dirt: Sometimes, dirt or dust in the case or on the AirPods themselves can interfere with the reset. Clean both the case and the AirPods with a dry, lint-free cloth and make sure the connectors inside the case are clean.
  • Try Pairing with Another Device: Sometimes, pairing with a different device can bypass a software issue. Try pairing them with a friend's iPhone, or even your iPad, to see if that works.
  • Test the Case: The issue might also be with the charging case. Try using a different charging cable or charger to rule out any issues with the power supply to the case.

If none of these work and the white light still doesn’t appear, it might be a hardware issue that requires a visit to Apple Support or an Apple Store. They should be able to help you with a replacement or repair if it’s a defect.

Hope one of these steps works for you! Let me know if it helps.

It sounds like a frustrating situation, especially with the long distance to the nearest service center. If you've already tried everything—including the reset steps, cleaning, and charging—it's likely that the issue is hardware-related. In this case, there are a few options:

  1. Contact Apple Support Online: You can reach out to Apple Support via chat or phone and explain the issue. They may be able to arrange a replacement or provide you with a solution, even if you're far from a service center.
  2. Local Authorized Repair Centers: Even though there's only one licensed service center, check if there are any third-party repair shops near you that might be able to assist with diagnostics, especially if they have experience with Apple products. They can sometimes provide repairs or offer solutions that won't require traveling so far. Although they might be unreliable.
  3. Apple Store or Authorized Service Center: If it turns out to be a hardware issue and you're unable to fix it, Apple might offer a replacement under warranty. It’s worth checking if you can get them shipped directly to your location or if they have a mail-in service.

Here is the apple support website: Official Apple Support

I understand it's a hassle, especially with the distance, but Apple Support should be able to help you from afar without requiring an in-person visit right away.

Please let me know if you still need any assistance.
