Update on accidental damage incidents over theft/loss incidents

I noticed on the Apple support that it is actually unlimited incidents of accidental damage, and the 2 per 12 months refers to theft/loss coverage, is that a recent change?

I am mainly posting this for the many people that have been told that it’s only 2 per 12 months for accidental damage
