Signing out terminated employee from Apple ID

I have a cell device that is company supervised and managed via the VerizonMDM (synced with Apple Business Manager). I can't seem to reset the phone because it's signed into a terminated employee's personal Apple ID.

Is there a way around this or will we need to request for the terminated employee to sign out of all devices?
