Okay, if I use the Music app on the Mac, there’s no delay—but I want to hear all the sounds from my MacBook through the HomePod, not just Apple Music. That includes system sounds and even Spotify. But the delay is unbearable.
Is there any solution for this?

Which MacOS are you running? Mine works fine for all apps and browsers.
the best thing to do is to force quit all these Apps and restart your Mac to test again. In the home app on the Mac click on your HomePod and scroll down to reset - then choose restart. Or you can unplug the HomePod for 15 seconds to restart it.
I’ve already done all of that—my macOS is Sequoia. I’ve restarted, updated, and everything else. But if I set the sound output to the HomePod mini via AirPlay, all the audio has a delay. My HomePod only works properly if I send music to it through the Music app.
maybe look if the wifi router has a firmware update you can install
I don't believe airplay really have a build in control of latency caused by wifi quality issues
resulting in many retransmit of data
I have this problem too. Maybe make sure the HomePod is updated to the newest software as well as the MacBook! But HomePods were typically designed just to be used for Apple Music. Also check your WI-FI this might help with speeds of connecting to the HomePods.
No idea why but it is aggravating.
I have an MBA M2, on my previous MBA I had issues if I tried to pause playback. I’d suggest rebooting your wifi to see if this improves. I don’t use Spotify
Are you using more than one Home pod? If so the latency might be caused by synching them up.
Why isn’t it possible to use my HomePod mini as speakers for my MacBook? The 2–3 second delay is unacceptable!
