Why does My cordless keyboard (2014 vintage) to my Mac desktop fail to function after replacing batteries?

After replacing the batteries I push on button and green dot initially come alive but either starts flashing or goes out. What should next steps be?

Yeah, I hadn't had my ☕️ this morning when I suggested opening the settings on the Mac! 🤣

Brand spankin' new batteries is always a great idea.

Open the Bluetooth settings on the computer and see if the keyboard is discovered while the green light is flashing.

If so, then you should be able to pair the keyboard to the Mac.

If the keyboard cannot be discovered, then it may be either too old for the current Mac or it may be failing.

Thank you but since the keyboard will not function I am not able to open the get into any functions on my Mac desktop. I am now thinking that my replacement batteries which are my last few left — are actual also near dead and hence I will just buy some new batteries and try that. Regardless I appreciate you assistance
