Image Playground - any good?

I decided to try out Image Playground today only to discover that it used Apple Intelligence which I can't access because I am booting from an external.

I could boot from the internal SSD but as it's on Sonoma it would need updating to Sequoia and I can't be bothered!

So has anyone tried IP and if so is it the best thing since Sliced Bread (SB) or is it the reverse?

Mac mini, macOS 15.3

It’s nice to have but not a huge deal. It can create pretty funny images. I have used to portray some family members as well as some funny stereotypes (like a German with Oktoberfest appropriate attire or an Englishman with top hat and a newspaper in a Dickensian setting).

I am surprised by your mention of external drive being a problem. Did you receive any specific error message to that effect?

I have no idea who Image Playground is supposed to improve our workflow. I have zero use for it. I'd rather have a professional grade audio mixer in FCP.

As the name suggests, it's a playground, an app in which to play with AI image generation. It's not supposed to improve workflow.

We are banned in the UK from using stereotypes . . . it's not PC. ☹️

No messages, it simply is not an available option in the import menu as AI does not work on external boot drives for security reasons. Mama Apple knows what's best for us.

That along with Apple Pay is the only setback to booting externally.

I have been dabbling with Google AI Studio which looks as though it may do something similar.

This was its interpretation of me as a young man on my bike . . .
