iMessage notifications and hepatics dont’t occur when I’m currently in an app

I have the 16pro max and for months now, it randomly doesn’t play hepatics when I get iMessages. Now, if I’m actively in an app, safari, facebook, TikTok you name it, I get zero notifications, no banner, no hepatics nothing. I have tried numerous fixes that I’ve found online but nothing works. Hoping this wonderful community might be able to help. Thank you!
