Its database has gone crazy. I have multiple copies of notifications on the same day (e.g., a birthday or anniversary has 3 or more notifications on the same date). In some instances, the notification is on the wrong day AND the right day.
Is there a way to repair this?

Review the Calendars you are using in the app and make note of the color used for the Calendar to see where the event is coming from. You may be syncing a Google Calendar that has the same event, along with a Birthday Calendar that is pulling the event from your Contacts. You can turn off a Calendar to see the events that go away.
iCal has been doing my head in for weeks now and finally got around to doing a search to see i'm not the only one. I am constantly having to sort through jobs that I have in my calendar and make corrections.
