PowerPoint application on Mac does not play the embedded YouTube video.

Hi!

When inserting a video with a YouTube link into a PowerPoint presentation, the video does not play; it remains as a static image.

  • The Powerpoint file was created in the Mac.
  • This happens with all files.
  • The files are on the Mac desktop.
  • The same PowerPoint file plays the video without problems from Windows.
  • The same file plays the video if I open it from OneDrive online on the Mac using Safari.
  • PowerPoint and Mac are updated.
  • The behavior is the same on two different Macs.
  • Until recently, YouTube video playback in PowerPoint presentations worked without problems on these Macs.

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

Kind regards

Diane

I updated yesterday and rebooted, but it still didn't work. I contacted Apple support today, who said they can't help with third-party apps (Powerpoint/YouTube). Interesting response.

Today I rebooted again and checked for more updates, and it started working again. So I recommend updating several times and rebooting until it works.
