Finder not as it used to be

Hello. I have been having issues with my Finder since November 2024, and I cannot for the life of me figure out what has happened or how to fix it. This is what my finder looks like when I go to open it. basically I have to manually choose Macintosh HD, for it to them open the next line ofchoices, and then I have to press "brukere" Which is "Users", then I have to choose my user which I have blacked out for privacy reasons, and then I can finally choose to open my documents or pictures. But they still pop up in this manner of a list, I don't have to option to view it like I did before.

Please help me!!

I have tried to restart/reboot the Finder app, and my computer is up to date with new system versions, also tried to restart the computer. NOTHING works. Help...

I finally figured it out. My sidebar was missing. If anyone is having this issue go into finder and press Command + Option + S. It will pop back up!

Thank you again. I have tried this as well. What I am looking for it to look like is this picture here which I found here on apples own website. this is how it used to look and what I am wanting it to look like again. This thing I have now is far to difficult to work with and not how I am used to having my Mac for the past 10 years of owning some.
