MacBook Pickup at Apple Store - Card Refund if Order is Cancelled?
Hi everyone,
I'm planning to purchase a MacBook online with the in-store pickup option at the Apple Store located at 401 North Michigan Avenue in Chicago. The system indicates an estimated pickup date of April 21, 2025.
I chose the in-store pickup option, however, I'm not certain if I will be able to get to the store exactly on the specified date (April 21st) or shortly thereafter to collect the device. My availability around that time is uncertain.
I intend to pay for the order in advance using a credit/debit card. My main question is: If I fail to pick up the order within the timeframe designated by Apple, and the order is automatically cancelled as a result, will I receive a full refund of the amount paid back to the payment card used for the transaction? Does Apple charge any handling fees, cancellation fees, or restocking fees in such a scenario?
I'd also like to ask about a few related points that would help me plan the pickup better or understand the procedures:
- What is the actual window for picking up an order? Is it strictly the specified date (April 21st), or does Apple typically allow customers a few extra days (e.g., 7 days) to come and collect their purchase?
- Is it possible to change the pickup date after the order has been placed, if I realize the original date won't work for me?
- How long does the refund process typically take to return the funds to the payment card if an order is cancelled due to non-pickup?
I would be very grateful for any information or shared experiences regarding similar situations. I want to be sure about the refund policy specifically for card payments before I place and pay for the order.
Thank you and best regards!
