How do I recover accidentally deleted Word document on iMac?
I do not know what to tell you, but I saved a document and went to use it only to accidently touch delete instead of save after

Do you have Time Machine enabled on your system? If so, that's your easiest path to recovery.
if it just happened, the file should be in the system snapshot, so recovery should be pretty easy.
check the auto save location if you have enabled the auto recover feature:
For Office Word 2016/2019/2021/Office 365
/Users/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Word/Data/Library/Preferences/AutoRecovery
For Office Word 2011:
/Users/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/Office 2011 AutoRecovery
if not available, you can revert to a previous version to keep the latest changes. both the desktop and web versions allow checking version history.
or you can use a 3rd party tool to recover the unsaved documents.
Had you not saved the document before? If not then there's no way to recover the document because it never existed except in memory.
