Trade In Kit Doesn't Fit

I purchased a new 24" iMac and received a trade in kit to return the old one for a trade in. But, the foam insert is 3/4" to narrow for the computer screen. Countless phone calls later I got someone in management and they said they would send another kit. The new kit has the same problem - foam cutout 3/4" too small. Now online with customer support for over an hour and told the only option is to get another kit or take it in to the store and tell them it's a "trade in" and they would give me a $285 gift card. I don't want a gift card - I have 3 new Apple devices. Another suggestion from them is to "cut the foam to fit!" It's also not possible to call and Apple Store - long time holding and call is eventually routed to apple customer support . I am worn out and mad!

You can also simply go to a UPS Store and get a box and packing material if you want. Is it possible you simply are not inserting the computer into the packing material correctly, that can be very difficult and has to fit "just right" in order to work out.

Also, you may not know but we are all end users just like you . Apple is our our however they do not read or participate in these forums. If you want to provide feedback to them, you can reach them (don't expect a reply) at www.apple.com/feedback. Be sure to be specific and tell them what country you are in and what the address is on the return box so they know which recycling program to work with.

Also, if you are getting trade in value PLEASE (and I cannot state this firmly enough) document the shape the computer is in when you ship it. Please take photos that are date and time stamped to match the day you are shipping it. Show the computer running with photos that show the SN, apps running, the physical shape of the computer etc.... We have heard of users that have been denied the trade-in value quoted because the computer was NOT in the shape it was purported. Once it's shipped you and the trade in company cannot say what occurred during the shipping process. So if there is a dispute, with the photos that are date and time stamped you have proof that you can provide just in case of such a situation.
