Why doesn't Apple Calendar recognize Google Maps?

Hi, I have an issue with Apple Calendar. I’ve removed Apple Maps from my device, and the only navigation app installed is Google Maps, which is also set as the default. However, when I create an event in Apple Calendar with a route address and click the address, I receive the message: “No navigation map installed. To navigate and get directions, please install a navigation map.”

Why am I getting this message even though Google Maps is installed and set as the default navigation app?

First questions... which device are you using and which version of macOS, iOS iPadOS are you running.

Make sure Navigation Services are turned on. If that doesn't fix things then my opinion would be that Calendar is hard coded to use Apple Maps for getting directions. If that's the case the only solution is to reinstall Apple Maps. The link provided also discusses your issue.

How do I change my default map to Google Maps?
