Good evening.

If you forgot your Mac's user password (login password), boot in to recovery mode and reset the password. On an Apple Silicon Mac, shut down your Mac, press on the power button for 10 seconds, and on an Intel mac, press Cmd R, and you will see disks once you are in recovery mode. Click on Options, and press forgot password to reset your password. However, if you are not logged in to an apple id, click on utilities in the menu bar, terminal, and type "resetpassword" to reset your password.

However, if you forgot your Apple ID password, go to any Apple website (or open settings) and do any action that triggers password input, and click "Forgot Password?" and follow the instructions.
