I recently purchased an Imac. When I was setting it up, I locked myself out of the computer. I can sign in to my apple account on my laptop, and android phone, but I've been unable to unlock it on the imac. Its incredibly frustrating

The password for your Mac is not usually the same password you use for your Apple Account - unless you did consciously to set it to that.

If all else fails make an appointment at the nearest Apple Genius Bar and have them restore it to factory settings. It'll take about 30-45 minutes. Then you can take it home and start over from scratch as if the new iMac had just been delivered.
I just had to take my new M4 Mini in to have it set back to factory settings and it took about 45 minutes (I know a Mini is a lot easier to carry into an Apple store than a new iMac).
