Formula returning a sequential number, (part of a code) counting up, sequence also has 3 letter code.

Try this:

1. Enter CFD-01 in the first cell.
2. Enter CFD-02 in the second cell.
3. Select the two cells.
4. Hover over the middle of the lower border of the second cell and drag the yellow dot down.

Numbers will fill in the sequence when you do that, e.g. CFD-01, CFD-02, CFD-03 etc.

Cell > Data Format > Numeral System (Column B) may help.

Enter 01 in B2.

Formula in B3 is B2+1

Fill down.

Formula in C2 is A2&B2

Fill down.

I tested to 1000000 and it worked.
