Issue with deleting whatsapp backup from icloud after getting rid of iphone

Background - I still own an ipad and macbook but no longer have an iphone.

When reviewing my icloud storage there is significant portion being used by a whatsapp backup. I have tried to delete this on both my ipad and macbook but it's still there. There is no error, the delete appears to be processing as I would expect, including the warning about permanent deletion, but it isn't being deleted.

I have being trying to remove this for over a month now with no change.

I do not have whatsapp installed on either of my devices, only my new android phone.

From your other post Unable to delete whatsapp backup from icl… - Apple Community

This isn't an Apple issue, you'll need to contact whatsapp support.

I think it's a little premature to say it's not an apple issue. I have contacted whatsapp but nothing so far has resolved the issue. Ultimately I'm trying to delete something from an apple service using an apple device.

Sorry you backup whatsapp directly in the app not icloud.

AGAIN not an Apple issue, and there is no need for you to create another thread on this.

To back up WhatsApp on an iPhone, users can leverage iCloud for automatic or manual backups of their chat history and media. To ensure a successful backup, users should verify their iCloud Drive is enabled for WhatsApp and that there's sufficient storage on both their iCloud and iPhone.

Here's a breakdown of the process:

1. Automatic Backups:

  • Open WhatsApp and go to Settings > Chats > Chat Backup.
  • Tap "Auto Backup" and choose your desired backup frequency (daily, weekly, monthly).
  • You can also choose whether to include videos in your backups.
  • WhatsApp will automatically back up your chats to iCloud according to your chosen schedule.

2. Manual Backups:

  • Open WhatsApp and go to Settings > Chats > Chat Backup.
  • Tap "Back Up Now" to manually initiate a backup.
