How can I retrieve detailed transaction history on Apple Pay?

Regarding a dispute with a company, I need as much information as possible about a specific transaction. A precise timestamp. I need to prove a transaction made with my iPhone (a reservation on card, not an actual payment, so the exact moment the iPhone was scanned).

Is there a way to retrieve this information somewhere?

Apple only sees encrypted data. That’s part of the privacy that Apple Pay offers. The information is basically not traceable back to you. Your bank has the key to decrypt the data, not Apple. Your best bet, in my experience, is to pursue the matter with the bank. They record all information related to your card. So, the issuing bank would know exactly when a hold on funds is placed. This information is critical to the bank in determining when accounts are overdrawn and deposits credited.

Got it, thanks for the explanation.

The list of permutations of the various transport payment reconciliation methods sometimes seems endless. 😕

Hope you can get it sorted.

I have a hard time believing that the bank doesn’t have access that info. After all, EVERY action in the payments system has a “audit trail.”

This might be a case in which you’ll need to escalate beyond the “Tier 1 CSR.”

Yes, thank you. So, it's a tram ticket validation transaction. In this case, it's a hold at the time of the iPhone scan. The transport company claims I didn't validate, and even though I have proof of purchase, it's listed as a later date on my bank account (since the bank statement shows the actual payment and not the hold).

So, I would need the exact timestamp of the hold (which I can't get from my bank, so maybe the information is hidden somewhere in the iPhone :)

On public transport I pay via contactless in the vehicle (so Wallet ApplePay, not via the public transport app).

The bank temporarily puts the maximum daily rate on hold in the bank account. And you only pay for the journeys you have made. The difference will be returned to the account at the latest 2 to 3 working days after the first validation.

So, my proof of purchase is for now a day after I actually validate my ticket. I need exact timestamp to the minute for the time I make this contactless validation.
