Other tell tale signs to confirm a message claiming to be from Apple is a scam:
- Apple does not send SMS messages, so if it is SMS then it is a scam.
- Does the message address you by name. If not that same message is sent out to thousands of other people.
- Does is show the sender as being from an gmail, outlook, or other third party domain. If so, that is not Apple. You can't necessarily trust a senders information as it can be spoofed, so even if it says Apple does not confirm it as legitimate.
While there are many more indicators for quick identification, these 3 are sure ways to confirm a scam. In any case, you should NEVER call a number or click a link in a message/email you receive and provide personal information.
