Debit Card can’t be added to Apple Pay

Hello, i was trying to add my Lloyds Bank debit and Credit card into my Apple Wallet and it says “Card cannot be added. Contact your card issuer for more information”. I contacted my bank and they said there’s nothing in their end and it should work. I contacted Apple and they answer me the same so i don’t know what to do

It is your bank that must approve the card to be added and after they do that, the bank will send your device a unique token that is stored in your Secure Enclave. It is not unusual for a call to first tier support of a bank to say there is not a problem on their end, and you will need to escalate the matter with them. The bank is not sending your device the unique token needed for Apple Pay, which is why you see the message that the card cannot be added and to contact the card issuer.

Read this maybe it helps. Cannot add cards to apple pay due to devi… - Apple Community

TLDR: There is no fix. Apple won't help. Although every apple rep said it is not Apple's decision, which is "technically true" with hidden information Apple do not want you to know, which is, bank refused your request because Apple said your device is not secure.

If you don't believe it, there is another easy way to figure out who lied about it:

    • If it is banks who is behind it and lied to you there’s nothing in their end, then you cannot use google pay, right? Because google cannot oeverride banks' decision.
    • If it is Apple, who is behind it and lied to you there’s nothing in their end, then you can probably use google pay, right? Because google does not follow Apple's decision.

What is my assumption you think is incorrect?

Who said Google Pay use the same technology as Apple Pay?

Who said the card approval process and payment processes process are fundamentally the same?

The bottomline is, if there is something from the banks end, and they lied, then it's an issue you have with the banks, not a single wallet. But if it is Apple, then you have an issue only with apple, not Google or other wallets.

Again, the simple fact is, bank do not have the information how you use your device, only APPLE can collect all the information they want to give you a device score, which includes not limited to: personal data, purchase/download data, phone calls, emails, and other activities on the phone.

Good luck.

We’ve been through this. You’re making false assumptions and accusations. Apple does not disclose the information you suggest. Phone calls, emails, purchases, activities etc. You confusing to different privacy policies. One applies to Apple Store services such as iTunes, App Store and the other policy concerning Apple Pay. You are fundamentally in error.
