It's not clear what you want. Time Machine isn't a synchronization device; Time Machine is a backup app. In general, when you use Time Machine, it backs up all your data on your Mac. It runs the backup routine usually once an hour and, except for the very first one, it doesn't take very long, because Time Machine does incremental backups, recording the change that have occurred since the last backup. I backup my MacBook when I get home-- I plug in my Time Machine drive and, if I'm doing no more work, I unplug it before it goes again in an hour.

iCloud Drive Backups: Do you have "Optimize Mac Storage" turned on at System Settings>[name]>iCloud>iCloud Drive? If so, then your iCloud Drive files may not be kept locally on your Mac, and so they can't be backed up there. If you don't use "Optimize," then our iCloud files are all on your Mac and they automatically get backed up by Time Machine.

Thank you Richard for your response and additional questions... in June, I found I had 100s of files missing from my ICloud account and have spent over 20+ hours working with Apple Sr. Techs to try and resolve and recovery everything. Unfort. even after replacing my MacBook Pro and again working with the wonderful Apple techs, nothing was able to be recovered.

Now I am trying to figure out how to sync my ICloud drive to the Time Machine to back up all of my design files in case this happens again. In the meantime I have manually copied my ICloud drive to an external hard drive.

But upon following your steps, I have come across another issue of ICloud Data not syncing... and when I get to the last step, it is asking me to delete my ICloud data!! (Please see screenshots) I looked at the details and I don't mind deleting passwords, maps and health info, but this also includes my Apple card transactions that are for my business and I can't delete that.

I would appreciate any guidance or direction on how to move forward with this, and thank you in advance for your help.
