Apple Pay wants confirmation on the wrong iPhone

I have two iPhones, a 7 (which I do not keep with me) and a 12. On the MacBook Pro, I tried to use ApplePay. It said I had to confirm the deal on the iPhone 7. How can I tell ApplePay to confirm things on the other phone, the 12?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 15.6

Aha! Thanks, Jeff. That clue led me down a rabbit hole which led me to Check your Apple Account device list to find where you’re signed in – Apple Support (UK) . From there, I found that I could show all the devices that my Apple ID/Account lists, and delete that one.

No, just the one. No, all of the devices are mine personally. I eventually did the purchase on my iPhone 12 instead of the Mac, and it worked fine. But there must be some way to tell ApplePay which iPhone to use for confirmation. What if I had sold the iPhone 7? (Hopefully, wiping its memory before selling it would take care of that, but maybe not.)
