How to resolve 'update shipping contact' error when using Apple Pay

Recently I started getting this issue when trying to use Apple Pay for purchases on line. It always said update shipping contact info and would not let me process a payment. When I checked my address was already input and nothing needed to be changed. I’ve searched and found absolutely nothing that helped and a bunch of closed threads with the problem not solved.

So I’m making this to finally resolve this because I figured it out. Go into Apple wallet app to edit your address. You will find there are places to input your email and your phone number. Mine was blank. It never mattered before because my address had my name and full legal address. Now they want you to include your email and phone too.

I’m assuming it’s so they can sell your info and you can get more marketing junk calls and emails. Anyway, that fixed it. Give these random companies you are purchasing things from your phone and email and you can pay with Apple Pay again online.
