Incorrect line width in Preview shape style on MacBook Air

On my MacBook Air (2020 M1) and for the past several Operating Systems (currently running Sequoia 15.5) I have needed to reboot the OS every time I use Preview (currently v 11.0 (1069.5.2) for the Shape Style control of the geometric shapes line width to be correct. Otherwise even though the narrowest line width is the correct sized thin line but the 2nd narrowest line width, and all successive widths are unusably thick. Reboot the OS and all seven line width options return to their proper thicknesses. Anyone know of how to get rid of this anomaly?
