Settings/General/Storage showing wrong information

Storage shows used space that is completely illogical. I probably am using about 180GB of disk according to disk utility. Have run First Aid but no change.

MacBook Air M1. Currently running Tahoe but the problem started with Sequoia.

The information in the macOS Storage Management section has been known to be incorrect. The other day I saw someone post a picture on this forum where the Used space value was a negative number (hard to say if that was due to corruption, or a bug with the new update, or a change in how storage is calculated). I believe the information shown here is calculated based on the Spotlight Index, so you may want to rebuilt the Spotlight index.

The only useful storage value is the Free space value which unfortunately is only shown in Disk Utility and the Apple System Profiler. Ignore the "Available" storage value shown every where within macOS as it is very misleading and "Available" is non synonymous with Free in macOS.
