How do I remove iOS? Ver 26.1 (23B5044l) beta

How do I remove a beta version of iOS on my device it’s clearly affected without having to install or download or sync, or connect it with anything else that it might affect? I don’t trust to be guided thru steps of different options if I know that the iOS beta version is already compromised.. I don’t want to risk being left with even a worse experience than I was already put in with no options and correct steps to make sure that it doesn’t affect anything else more than I even know now.

iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 26

You should not be running beta versions at all unless you are prepared to handle the issues that come with them as its pre-release software that is expected to have issues. Its not a final product.

To remove it entirely, you will need to turn off Betas in Settings ➜ General ➜ Software Update.

click here ➜ Apple Beta — Unenroll Your Devices

Then either wait for a full release of 26.1 or erase your device and restore a shipping version of iOS.

click here ➜ Apple Beta — Restore Shipping Software

If you don't have a backup made before updating to 26.1, then you will have some data loss as a backup made on a beta version cannot be restored onto a previous version of iOS.

iOS 26.1 and iPadOS 26.1 are the current versions for iPhone and for iPad.

These are not beta versions.

If you were intentionally running a beta, see the reply here by Phil0124 for links to removal instructions.

There is no supported means to downgrade from a newer iOS or iPadOS to an earlier version.

Being unable to access the internet can be caused by an add-on VPN or add-on security app, or by a local network or Wi-Fi or ISP problem.

If any add-on VPN apps or add-on security apps are installed, remove all, restart the iPhone or iPad, and try again.

If that fails, try connecting via a different Wi-Fi network.

If that fails, you’re then headed for a reset and reload, and probably then a discussion with Apple Support.

I hate hate hate this new update 26.1. It is too hard on the eyes for people with vision problems. I cannot use the “clear” icons. The email screens are cluttered. I will be your very best friend if you can tell me how to go back. I’m to the point I’m ready to switch to android and it’s only been a few hours. I can’t see

Beyond that, it cannot be remove or changed, but you can offer Apple Feedback.

Also, if you are running the Beta as is the topic for the thread you replied to, then you can remove it as explained ion this thread already, though you might only be able to back to the public release version of iOs 26.1 at this point.

You can use the Feedback Assistant App installed with the Beta to report issues directly to Apple.

Beyond that, threats don't work here. If you want or need to go and use Android, then do so, we have no vested interest in your choice of device.

I too am having issues with iso 26.1. I do not care for this version at all. I would like to go back to the previous version. The clear screen is horrible. There’s other issues I do not care about.

This thread is about removing an iOS beta.

Reverting from an iOS beta to a shipping version can be feasible, up until the shipping version is released.

Once a version is shipping, there is no supported means for downgrades.

Well, if you don't have a Beta version of iOS 26 on your phone, you can't remove something that does not exist.

During the Beta period.....which you would have had to have signed up for.....it was possible to remove Beta versions of iOS 26 and revert to iOS 18.

But, when the official release of iOS 26 occurred in September, once you installed that.....and other iOS 26 updates since then......you cannot remove iOS 26.

Another problem with 26.1 that is I cannot save a screenshot to my photos as with previous version whatever that is. Anyone have a solution?

I will trade my phone 15 on a newer model as long as it does not have 26.1.

lesson learned, do not download a revision routinely.

Altogether a vile and invasive o/s

When you take a screenshot, see the check mark in the upper right hand corner? Tap it and then tap Save to Photos.

Thanks. Still too many unwanted changes. If I can buy a new device with 26.0 I will.

How to save screenshots didn't change with 26.1. It was part of iOS 26 from the start. Locking yourself into an out of date iOS version is not wise. It means you'll miss security updates and bug fixes going forward. Things with technology will ALWAYS change and evolve. As users, we just need to learn about the changes, then they're really not so bad.
