Your MacBook Air supports one external monitor with the lid open, two with the lid closed.
Use dual monitors with your MacBook Air and MacBook Pro with M3 chip - Apple Support
HDMI never supported daisy-chaining monitors, and Macs don't support DisplayPort MST daisy-chaining, or its equivalent. Thus, Macs that support multiple external monitors support connecting at most
in a first-class, hardware-supported way.
That means that unless Thunderbolt is involved, you will need to connect each of your monitors to a different port on your MacBook Air. E.g., you could have one monitor plugged into a plain USB-C dock which is plugged into the MacBook Air, and the other monitor plugged into the MacBook Air's remaining USB-C port with the aid of a USB-C to HDMI adapter cable.
