Hi, I just bought a new iPhone 17 for about 5 days. the total battery usage is 358%(80 + 69 + 103 + 43 + 27 + 36), but battery cycle count is 5 now. Also, I'm sure that the cycle count is 0 when I first turn on this iPhone. How does the battery cycle count calculated?

Not unusual for a new phone to show 1 cycle count and with a discharge of 358% rounding to 4%, that would show a cycle count of 5.
The Cycle count is the discharge of the battery normalized between 80% to 100% of the batteries capacity, so even if the cycle count was 0 at the start, a cycle count of 5 would not be unusual based on your battery usage. Review the information provided here on cycle counts.
A complete charge cycle is normalized between 80% and 100% of original capacity to account for expected diminishing battery capacity over time.

One charge cycle is a period of 100% battery usage, which can be from a single 100% to 0% charge or multiple partial charges that add up to 100%.
You will drive yourself crazy if you are checking the battery all the time though.
Hi. I have the brand new iPhone-17 from sep-21, 2025 onwards. Almost 55 days old by the time of this reply. Have been casually monitoring the battery cycle count during initial days of usage. Felt something out of order. So from cycle 32 onwards went into data collection mode. Have been constantly taking screenshots and logging data at different point of time. Now my cycle count has changed to 38 within 5 days. But I’m a lean user logging maximum of 65% per day only.
cumulatively the battery discharge is less than 400% but cycle count incremented by 6. Average around 70%.
Logged a complaint with apple. Waiting for resolution. Seems a generic issue. Hope they solve this.
Update:
Apple diagnostics team reviewed the data and confirmed no problem with battery. Asked to reverify the data logging method. At present counted from cycle 45 to 53. Usage: 710%. Cycle count increments on an average of around 88% (710/8)
They said it is normal behavior. So no issues
Same here. I just bought and used it for 16days for now. My battery cycle count is 12. This is unusually high. Another iphone 15 pro of mine which is more than 2 years of usage only registers at 4
Same 🤗 , yesterday when i put mh 17Pro on charging its counts was 79 , after 89% of battery charging i remove charging , when i check battery cycle count was 81 😂
