This year, my apple calendar is automatically adding an alert when I create an event. I swear it used to default as ‘none’ and you had to add the alert. I’ve tried unsyncing the calendar with iCloud and that worked for a minute but then it started happening again. Any suggestions?

It looks like my calendar was linked to my Gmail account which somehow creates the automatic alerts. If you go into settings > apps > calendar and change ‘default calendar’ to be one of your phone calendars, the alerts seem to stop

Go to Settings > Apps > Calendar > Default Alert Times and make sure the settings are correct.
Have checked that and no default alert times are set
