For some reason the app store is forcing me to add a new payment method after updating to IOS 26. It already has my payment info, but for whatever reason, isn't letting me download ANYTHING unless I update it or add another method (even though I shouldn't need to because everything is correct).

i'm sorry you're going through this. But it is very possible that your bank has not updated its payment method to be used with iOS 26. Please check with them. At this point, it may be best for you to try another payment method for now until they update. I ran into the same issue with my bank after updating. Sadly, these third party companies had many months to update their apps but not all did. My bank took about a week after I updated to finally work.
