IOS 26 - iPhone 17Pro won't connect CarPlay

2019 Cadillac XT5. I had an iPhone 14 that hooked up USB to the car and I was able to use CarPlay. I’ve replaced the iPhone with a 17 Pro, and updated to iOS 26. I’ve deleted all the old Bluetooth connections and re-connected with the new phone on the car. Disabled VPN and restarted the phone. Bluetooth works with the phone. I can play my music from my phone and listen to podcasts. Car even tells me when I've got a text. I tried connecting with the USB wire plugged in but there are no instructions to connect by plugging in. CarPlay Setup on the phone says, "If your car supports wireless CarPlay..." It appears that it does not. But it should work wired shouldn't it? Seems Apple forgot to include the wired option with CarPlay on IOS26.
