Safari crashes when hitting the command key

For the past few days, Safari on macOS has been crashing for me if I hit any keyboard shortcut (⌘ + T, ⌘ + W, ⌘ + shift + T, ⌘ + A, etc.). I don't have any special keyboard utilities or any extensions. I am using my laptop keyboard, nothing third party.

I was having this problem on macOS Sonoma so I figured maybe it was time to move to Tahoe, so I did. But I'm having the same issue. Tried dumping my cache, cookies, etc. Played around with keyboard settings.

It doesn't seem to be related to heavy Javascript or anything like that, it seems to be purely the ⌘ key. It will crash even with blank tabs only.

The crash log is usually something like:

Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Crashed Thread: WebKit KeyEvent Handler
…
Process: Safari [####]
Path: /System/Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Safari
…
Thread 0 Crashed:: Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread
0   com.apple.AppKit               …  NSEvent_keyCode
1   com.apple.WebKit               …  WebEventProcessor::handleKeyDown

On a 2023 M2, running MacOS 26.0.1 (25A362) and Safari [Version 26.0.1 (21622.1.22.11.15)]. But as previously mentioned I've had this issue on Sonoma as well.

Thanks for any help.

MacBook Air 15″, macOS 26.0
