Unable to edit at the bottom of Notes

When I open up Notes on my iPhone, I can see the full Note. But, when I click to edit, it won't allow me to scroll to the bottom to add any text to it, or amend any text further down. I can only amend what I can physically see on the screen when I first open the Note (the first so many lines). What is happening!?!

ok, thank you for clarifying the problem.

I think I see what you're getting at, and this truly seems to be a software bug, which is just as inconvenient as it is strange… I do assume that you have your iPhone updated to the latest-latest iOS 18/26 version, which would be a factor.

So… because when I open a longer note on my iPhone/iPad, I can just scroll down, click the respective position and start writing, as you've described… if that does not work, restarting does not work… just to double-check, do you happen to have any other device to test the application on? because I would just assume it's an issue with the notes application, and that it would work in all circumstances when trying to edit the note in iCloud for web.

I'm sorry, but what I take from your question is, that you do not understand, why you can only edit the "first so many lines" of your note on your iPhone.

So, I do not know what you are usually used to using, if it's Microsoft OneNote, Google Docs, or a similar service.

Neither do I know if I have understood the issue correctly. But, what I'm taking from your message is, that you intend to use Apple Notes like Microsoft Word or Pages, so with quite some formatting involved.

The thing is, Notes is not designed to work like that. it really is supposed to be used as if you were using a notebook or something in that regard, and you wouldn't start noting something at the bottom of a sheet of paper, would you. so, if you would like to start writing at the bottom of a note, like you would in another program, you can either not, you could use the return key to get down, or you could use said other program.

If that was your issue, I'm sorry I couldn't assist further.

If the problem is that you've got a written note, e.g. from your MacBook, and you are unable to scroll down, that seems like a bug, which could likely be resolved with force restarting the notes application or your Apple device.

If there's some kind of misconception on my side, I'd be happy to be informed about it.

I’ve tried it on two different iPhones and an iPad. They are all on the latest software.

I don’t use iCloud - the notes are from several different outlook accounts.

i have the same issue with all the accounts.

the reason for this is they are shared accounts with my husband, so we can both view the data.

We also have our own outlook accounts that aren’t shared but still have the same problem.

so it must be an outlook/notes clash since th latest apple spate are update 😩

Hi, thanks for responding. It's just basic text (recipes mainly). So no formatting. But there are quite a lot of lines of text.

It's the Notes app - I'm using two iPhone 14s. I've restarted both devices.

I used to be able to edit the recipe and tweak as I improved on things.

I also have a list of birthdays/anniversaries in date order - but I can't edit December for example, as it is too far down on the list.

If I press and hold the cursor it still doesn't scroll down to the bottom.

I can view and scroll, but when clicking the Note to edit it, it won't allow me to scroll as far down.

I also can't hide the keyboard any more but swiping it down.

This has happened since the latest Apple software update :(
