FedEx lost my trade-in

I used the Apple supplied box and label and put my erased but functional, pristine Apple SE2 in a FedEx drop box and it has disappeared. According to FedEx it was never picked up, no tracking at all. I have a case open with FedEx customer service to search for it but it has been three days. You'd think they could have opened the drop box and found it by now. Reading the other threads here it seems there is a serious problem with FedEx employees stealing these trade-ins. Mine was old, only 2nd generation SE and only worth $50 but still. What should I do? Time is running out on the return deadline and there are no humans at Apple to talk to. I was lucky to get a human at FedEx.

These are fellow user supported communities and no Apple employees participate here. You are dependent upon FedEX locating your package, and should expect that your Apple return period will be over and that $50 credit forfeited. Once, and if, FedEX finds your package, you should contact Apple and see what your next steps may include.

Although 100% of my trade-in boxes from Apple use United Parcel Service (UPS), I walk the trade-in box to the local UPS store and always request a receipt. You should have found a FedEX facility that could have taken your return package and provided a receipt.
