I want Safari to open like it used to before update with MY Bookmarks and for the Bookmarks to be compacted just one line. I don't want to see the description of the bookmark. I know what it is?

Are you referring to the description of the Bookmark when viewed in the side bar. If that is the case, you can Control-Click or two finger tap on track pad to edit the description. By default the description appears if you have not provided one, but you can clear it, then you will see the just the Bookmark name and Address.
Not sure what difference in the Start Page not opening to your Bookmarks you are seeing. For me, they still open to the Favorites I have chosen and the Start Page looks exactly like what it did before the update. Do you have Favorites selected when you tap the Edit button on the bottom of the Start Page?

No problem. If you choose to update again, note that the description seen in the side bar for bookmarks can be removed. They are only appearing because there was not a description provided by you, so it attempts to create its own description from the web page. Editing the description by clearing it prevents it from getting the description from the web page.

you have a couple options.
the first option, you can lay a new sequoia install over the old one without completely erasing and reinstalling sequoia. afterwards, you will have sequoia with safari 18.6.
and the other option, you may want to look at 6x6's reply in this discussion. if you are comfortable using terminal, their suggestion fixes things for those of us on sequoia with safari 26.0.1.
Thank you for the reply. I was referring to the Bookmarks in the side bar. I have misused the term start page and now understand the term as what it means. The problem is solved for now using the solution that jeffreyfrog suggested by rolling back Safari to 18.6.
