Bug: IOS 26 Phone app Search fails to find Contact

using search function in the phone app fails to find a contact even though that contact is in the Contacts app. And no special characters are involved.

Go to Settings > Apps > Contacts > Search, turn off the 2 settings there, reboot your iPhone and turn those settings back on. Wait a few minutes for the search index to rebuild.

Still waiting for the reindexing, but this shouldn't be necessary. If there is a software update that will require an index rebuild that should be baked in to the reboot after the software update. Apple always needs a reminder from Steve J. Make it so that it "Just Works!!"
