How to manage dust, smudges, and micro-lines on a new MacBook screen?

Hi everyone,

I bought a MacBook in mid-June, and overall it works really well. However, I’ve been facing some issues with the screen and keyboard that are making me really frustrated.

  • Soon after purchase, I noticed a dead pixel, and the screen was replaced about 20 days ago.
  • Since then, I’ve noticed dust particles on the keyboard and screen area almost every day. Even though I clean the keyboard daily with a microfiber cloth, the screen still appears dirty.
  • Sometimes I wipe small spots with a lens microfiber cloth, but I’m already noticing hairline scratches and oily smudges in areas I haven’t even touched.
  • I’m very careful with cleaning — I use soft microfiber cloths, gentle wiping in straight lines, and avoid liquids — yet the screen seems so delicate that even normal use shows marks.

I’m feeling really frustrated (tbh crying while writing this) because this is a brand-new laptop, and I spent my hard-earned money expecting a premium experience. Now I worry:

  • How many scratches and lines will appear over time if even careful use leaves marks?
  • How can I keep the screen and keyboard clean without damaging the AR coating or causing more smudges?
  • Is there any safe method that helps manage dust and smudges effectively?
  • How do you deal with the resale concerns when even minor hairline scratches reduce the value significantly?

I would really appreciate advice from the community or Apple experts on how to best maintain the screen and keyboard of a MacBook without causing damage or stress.
