Slight clicking sound when pressing sides of MacBook Air M4 trackpad area

Hello everyone,

I recently noticed a slight clicking sound on my MacBook Air M4 (13-inch).

When I place my MacBook on a soft surface (like a blanket or my lap) and gently press the left and right edges near the trackpad, I can hear a small click or pop sound from the aluminum body.

It only happens when the laptop isn’t placed on a hard surface (like a desk). On the table, it’s completely silent. The device is brand new and works perfectly otherwise — no issues with the trackpad or keyboard.

Is this normal? Could it be due to slight chassis flex or internal pressure on the aluminum base?

Has anyone else experienced the same with the M4 MacBook Air?

Thank you!

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 15.7
