Quit Messenger completely and reboot your Mac. Then, check System Settings < Privacy & Security < Files and Folders to ensure Messenger has access to Documents and Photos. If that’s fine, clear Messenger’s cache by deleting ~/Library/Containers/com.facebook.Messenger and restarting the app.

Usually, this resolves attachment issues without a full reinstall. If it persists, reinstalling Messenger fresh often fixes leftover incompatibilities from a major OS updates.
