Music folder duplicates

In my music folder stored on an external hard drive there are multiple versions of the same song under the Album title.. e.g Song Name - 04 Sneaky Freak 1.m4a

04 Sneaky Freak 2.m4a

04 Sneaky Freak m4a

04 Sneaky Freak 3.m4a

I've tried deleting the numbered duplicates but this didn't work. The songs also show 4 times in Itunes
