Audible - Unable to pause but will cancelling loose titles & credits?

I can see that with an Audible membership through apple/App Store, we are unable to pause our Audible membership (very disappointing - please consider honouring this ability apple!). I want to know what happens to all of the titles I have purchased & the credits I haven't used, if I cancel the membership? I don't want to keep paying when I'm not able to keep up but I want to be able to come back after I have caught up.
