I'm wanting to upgrade my MacBook Pro 2017 model to the MacBook Pro 2025 model. I need to be able to have a USB port, and I notice that the charger isn't included in the bundle. Can you tell me what charger to buy and what adaptor I need for a USB port that is reliable.
Thank you for any advice. I'm in the UK
The 2025 model would be the 14" M5 MacBook Pro. (The M4 Pro and M4 Max MBPs came out in 2024.)
You can charge it using either USB-C or MagSafe 3. It comes with a USB-C Power Adapter the brick that you plug into the wall) and a USB-C to MagSafe 3 charging cable. (The ordering pages offer a choice of a 70W power brick (standard) or a 96W power brick (for a bit more). The higher-wattage brick allows for "fast charging.")
It has three USB-C (USB, USB4, DisplayPort, Thunderbolt) ports. These are USB ports, although they do not use a rectangular USB-A connector. (There are many flavors of USB connectors, of which USB-A, USB 3.0 A, and USB-C are just three.). Apple's USB-C to USB adapter is just one way of connecting USB-A devices to these ports.
