How do I set defaults for my printer when using air print

when I print a document it is currently set to color print. I would like to make this off as a default (as well as some other options). It is frustrating to have to change set up every time when I print mainly in b&w

iPad Air, iPadOS 26

For a HP Airprint Printer the differences are not that much different than between a Mac and iPad or a iPhone for that matter.

For me with my HP AirPrint printer, on my Mac I have the option under Presets to choose between the Default Settings or have the panel appear with the Last Used Preset, also with the ability to edit those presets. On the iPhone and I suspect the iPad, the Presets still appear where you can make a choice, but it is not saved and you will have to choose that preset again at some point, otherwise Presets will show None and you are back to the Default Settings.

No to split hairs with you Jim but I did mention that "not that much different than between a Mac and iPad or a iPhone" since iPhones and iPads are not Mac's. They are limited to what they can do compared to Mac's.

No Problem. It was just the information I had provided previously was specific to the Mac for the reason I described, so that prompted me to edit my post with an apology. I assume you saw my previous post before edit since you referenced the HP printer I had in my screenshot and does not apply to the iPad.
