Combining Freeform and Notes for a more powerful iPad note-taking experience

As someone who uses both Freeform and Notes daily, I’ve noticed how much overlap there really is. Freeform has features that honestly feel like they belong in the Notes app. It’s a great tool, but it doesn’t make sense to have two separate places for ideas, sketches, and notes when they could easily work together.

I think Apple should consider merging the two—maybe by adding a “limitless page” option in Notes, similar to how we can already pick lined or gridded paper. That way, we’d have the flexibility of Freeform inside Notes, without needing to switch apps.

I truly believe this would make the Notes experience way more powerful. The iPad is already known as the ultimate note-taking device, but Apple’s native note-taking setup hasn’t fully caught up to that reputation. If Freeform and Notes were combined, it could easily rival apps like Notability or OneNote.

It’s a win-win—for users who want everything in one place, and for Apple, because more people would see the iPad as the all-in-one productivity tool.
