CarPlay shows erroneous location, possibly due to vehicle

How can I turn off vehicle GPS in Car Play?

Sometimes while using CarPlay I get an erroneous location. I suspect it is a bad GPS signal from the vehicle because the location on the phone returns to being correct as soon as I unplug the data cable from the car.
