How to disable New Liquid Glass design for motion sickness on iPhone?

The New Liquid Glass Design is giving me headaches and motion sickness. Is there any way to turn this feature off. please DO NOT suggest reducing transparency and motion because these do not help my problem. I've used Apple for 20 years and this is the first time I'm seriously concidering switching to PC!

No, it can't be turned off. It can be adjusted to better meet your needs and whether you like or not the things you have admonished us from suggesting are actually ways you can adjust the effect.

It doesn't matter to anyone here on this user to user only forum if you switch to anything. Buy what you think best meets your needs. But if you want to try the suggestions in the user tip I wrote on this subject, you may be able to make adjustments which work for you --> Liquid Glass - Love It Or Hate It - It's … - Apple Community

hi Lobsterghost1! I found your article and many others very helpful as I explored all my options these past few weeks. Since I've run into a dead end and I'm honestly very frustrated, I am seeking more answers from the community. Perhaps someone can help or things may develop with future updates. thank you for your time

I'm glad you found the user tip helpful. As of this date 11.13.25, those are pretty ALL of the options you have. We saw the addition of the Clear/Tinted switch with iOS 26.1 added and we can assume we'll see more customization options as time moves forward with future updates. Apple does listen to feedback AS LONG as the feedback is constructive, NOT just a rant. And you can provide constructive feedback to Apple here --> Product Feedback - Apple

Please realize that being dizzy and having headaches every day is a real issue, not a rant.

I never suggested you were ranting. I merely suggested that if you provide feedback to Apple, you avoid ranting. There's a big difference.

On a final note, I get severe headaches and I often have chronic vertigo. None of which are made worse by looking at my iPhone and I haven't toned down Liquid Glass at all. I actually really like the effects. I would hope you're seeing a qualified medical professional about your dizziness and headaches. My specialist found out I had a vitamin D deficiency and that was contributing to my constant vertigo. Since adding higher levels of vitamin D, it has greatly reduced my dizziness.

Did you not read the part of the user tip "Finally, Liquid Glass has animations, which for some people with visual issues, can be difficult for them. To turn off the animations, again go to Settings > Accessibility > Motion – Turn ON Reduce Motion and things won’t move about your screen."

That completely removes anything that could cause motion sickness.

in fact if you apply all 4 mentioned in that user tip

  • Settings, Accessibility, Display & Text size, reduce transparency
  • Settings, Accessibility, Display & Text size , increase contrast
  • Settings, Accessibility, Motion, Reduce motion
  • Settings, Accessibility, Display & Text size , Display Borders

then no way is your dizziness being caused by the phone.

I suggest you see a doctor immediately.

I am so nauseous I can't even look at my phone and I have so much work to do! My eyes literally hurt. Please please please send an update and get rid of this Liquid Glass and transparency/motion screen. It was such a bad idea. I understand I can't downgrade and would do anything to be able to do this.

Thank you LD150, very helpful. This makes it better for me. Not severely suffering as others, but it helps!

May I add:

Settings, Accessibility, Motion, Prefer Cross-Fade Transitions

I completely agree. I woke up this morning to the new iOS 26.1 update from an iOS18 version. Yesterday my eyes and phone were fine. Today, within seconds of looking at the phone my temples tightened, my eyes pinched and within minutes I developed severe eye strain that has become even more severe enabling and disabling many of the functions to try and accommodate my vision more. I didn't look at the phone for more than 20 minutes this morning and 4 1/2 hours later, my eyes are still killing me and I have a headache as well.

I did all of these:

  • Settings, Accessibility, Display & Text size, reduce transparency
  • Settings, Accessibility, Display & Text size , increase contrast
  • Settings, Accessibility, Motion, Reduce motion
  • Settings, Accessibility, Display & Text size , Display Borders

None of those functions made it even 10% better, and I am still having dizzy spells, eye strain etc.
