Which seems to have been abruptly closed without actually resolving the annoying problem.

This happens to me every time I'm doing some important work and when I try to open a new tab in the terminal, the terminal just hangs and crashes! The only options seems to be to use a workaround mentioned in the aforementioned linked page. It is annoying that the issue hasn't been fixed even in MacOS Tahoe 26.1!

Then do not open a new tab— seems simple enough.

Command N will open a new window. Never had the issue there.

To be proactive you can file a bug report / submit your Apple Feedback here: Product Feedback - Apple

I provided all of your options in the thread you linked (it is also the Top Ranking replay so it is hard to miss) and even explained the source of the problem which triggers the issue. Perhaps you don't like the options I provided, but they are the only work arounds to the bug. I provided a link so people could provide product feedback to Apple so the bug could be placed on Apple's radar, but enough people need to report the issue & Apple must care enough about the bug to fix it. Since the bug has existed for several major versions of macOS, I seriously doubt Apple will be fixing the bug so the work arounds I listed are the best way to avoid the Terminal freeze bug.

FYI, I've never encountered this bug while using any of the work arounds provided in that linked thread.

I guess I did leave out two options......only use one Terminal window & tab, or don't use the Terminal app. There are third party alternatives.
